Opportunity: Leading fashion brand Calvin Klein recognized the power of live streaming to enable fans of Calvin Klein from around the world to access the runway show for the spring 2012 collection runway show at the fall 2011 Fashion Week in New York.
Solution: ClipSync, in a partnership with award-winning production company B Productions, built and powered a live social viewing application that lived on Calvin Klein’s website. The central social viewing feature was Snap-a-Pic which enabled users to spontaneously snap virtual photos of the many models and dresses being live-streamed. Additionally, users could chat via integrated Twitter functionality. Chat was segmented by topic and model-specific hashtags.
Results: Success here was measured based on the number of users and the extent of audience usage. The application succeeded on both counts, with substantial viewership from around the globe and with a very high degree of audience usage and engagement. While the integrated chat feature proved popular, the snap feature that triggered a lightbulb paparazzi effect particularly delighted users.
